As a newly engaged couple looking for a wedding photographer, you and your fiancé likely have tons of questions! We totally get it – that’s normal! After all, it’s probably the first time you’re hiring a wedding photographer. With hundreds of weddings under our belt, we’re happy to answer all your questions to put your mind at ease! Today we’re answering one of our most frequently asked questions:
FAQ: When does photography coverage start and end?
We recommend starting coverage for the bride two hours before the time you need to leave for the first look or for the church ceremony. This way you have time for detail shots and prep photos too! For the guys: one hour of prep is perfect!
As for the end time, we recommend having your photographers there until you’ve cut your cake 2-3 hours into the reception. How much reception coverage you’d like will depend on how much dancing you’d like to capture! Generally, the formalities of entrances, special dances, and toasts are all done during the first hour of the reception so once you’ve cut your cake, the formalities are over and that’s when couples typically end coverage. However, if you’ve got something unique planned for the end of the night, you might opt to extend your coverage.
